Target and scope
We aim for WCAG 2.1 level AA on every page of Suryalens. That is a target, not a statement that every page already meets it.
What we have done
- Colours come from one set of tokens, and each text and background pair is tested against a minimum contrast ratio.
- The policy pages have one main landmark, labelled navigation areas and a single level-one heading, and tests check this.
- Links, buttons and form controls show a visible focus outline.
- Dialogs keep focus inside while open, close with the Escape key and return focus to where you were.
- Status messages, such as the result of clearing your data, are announced to screen readers.
- Animation is reduced when your device asks for reduced motion.
How we check
- An automated contrast script runs on the colour tokens.
- Automated tests check accessible names, headings and landmarks on every change.
- Keyboard use is reviewed by hand before release.
- Screen readers are tried when they are available.
Automated checks find only some problems. They do not replace testing with assistive technology.
Known limitations
- Some charts have a text summary rather than a full text equivalent of every value.
- Websites shown in the demo belong to other people, and their accessibility is outside our control.
- PDF export relies on your browser's print dialog.
